About
A retro pocket digicam built around a XIAO ESP32S3 Sense, with a small TFT viewfinder, RTC-stamped photos, and a WiFi file manager. I'm designing a custom PCB for it.
What it will do
- Take JPEG photos to microSD, with retro filters
- Live viewfinder and gallery on a 1.8" display
- Bake the date and time into each filename with an RTC
- Share photos to a phone over its own WiFi hotspot with a QR code
Where it's at
Camera and SD firmware confirmed working on real hardware. Schematic is done and the PCB is in layout.
Built with
- XIAO ESP32S3 Sense
- ST7735 TFT
- DS3231 RTC
- LiPo
- KiCad

About
A low-cost pocket e-reader built around a XIAO ESP32-S3, a 3.7" e-paper display, and a microSD card for books. I wrote the firmware and I'm designing a custom PCB for it.
How it works
- Streams books from microSD one page at a time
- Wakes on a button press, turns the page, then goes back to deep sleep to save battery
- Two buttons, with short and long presses covering the whole menu
- Roughly $30 to 40 in parts, against about $129 for a commercial e-reader
Where it's at
Firmware compiles and flashes to hardware. Schematic is done and the PCB routing is in progress.
